King Triton's *Whimsical* Carousel at California Adventure!

It is no secret that I have a slight obsession with those finned folk one might find splashing around lagoons and luring sailors to their death. The truth is, I feel a special love for sea life in general, making a ride on King Triton's carousel whilst at Disney's California Adventure a must:

Instead of horses, the attraction showcases aquatic animals in fantastical colors and vibrant details. If this thing ever closes, I'm buying the lot for my house.

This calliope adjacent to the carousel is easily as gorgeous as the animal sculpts:

I know in the end it's just a carousel, an essentially off the shelf ride that you could ride anywhere, even your local mall, and that it could even be argued that it doesn't fit with the theming of the area it's in… but I don't know, I dig it :)

Human Ariel Should be Wearing her Pink Dress, amiright?

Although the list of elements that set Disney Parks apart from other theme parks is extensive to say the least, among the most important is the presence of walk-about and meet and greet characters. On this last trip, I had a blast looking for (okay, stalking!) my favorite characters around the park and spending a few minutes talking to them. Among my favorites was Ariel at Fantasy Faire. Bubbly, sweet, and cute as a button, I really loved chatting with her for a few minutes.

There is one thing, however, that bothers me about his particular Ariel meet and greet. Although she meets as a mermaid in Walt Disney World, at Disneyland, Ariel meets as a human. I wouldn't mind this at all (after all she does finish out her story as a human) except for the fact that she is wearing this stupid green dress that isn't in the movie! It would one thing if she didn't have any human clothes to choose from, but she has several! Cosplayer Traci Hines has done a killer job with all of them:

Personally, I think Ariel should meet in her pink dress at the formal meet and greets, and walk around in her blue dress. What about you? Does Ariel's green dress bother you? Let me know in the comments section!

Woman Crush Wednesday: Turbo-Babe cosplayer Traci Hines!

It is no secret that cosplay has become quite a interesting dynamic within any given fandomsphere, with Disney characters being (possibly) the most cosplayed of all!  As a lady prone to lady crushes, it seemed appropriate to participate in the alliterative internet ritual 'Woman-crush Wednesday' (I may even make it a habit!) and give a shout out to the most famous Disney cosplayer, Traci Hines.  Although Traci does all the princesses (along with Alice, Tinkerbell, and Pinocchio and various other mash-up characters) she was made famous by her uncanny portrayal of Ariel.  I picked out some of her best Ariel shots to share with you today.  Traci, if you're reading, I both love you and see you as a symbol of all the unfairness in the world.  Enjoy!

Princesses and Villains line from Black Milk Clothing

Disney's hot right now, ya'll.  From princess underwear at Hot Topic to pie-eyed Mickey socks at Urban Outfitters, every trendy retailer seems eager to hop on the bandwagon of endearing whimsy and delicious nostalgia.  Described by Bustle as an 'ultra-fandom-friendly fashion line', Black Milk Clothing is no exception.  On July 29th, the Princesses and Villains line will drop.  What I like most about the line is that many of the items explore Disney in an unexpected way. 

For example, the Ariel leggings are fish-scale print as opposed to being printed with a scene from the movie (as with Hot Topic's Disney legging line).

I want to wear these as part of an Ariel Disneybound!

Marie, an underrated and overlooked character (in this country at least!), is featured on more than one piece:
